How to Sell Beats With Paypal

Today I want to talk about how music producers can sell beats with Paypal.

At least 95% of music producers who are trying to sell beats online depend on services like Myflashstore and Soundgine to take care of all the payment processing.

This is a plus and can definitely put your beat selling website on autopilot, but there are also some shortcomings to using these services.

One of the main shortcomings with the services mentioned above is that you can’t offer another product after checkout to clients who just purchased a beat from you.

This is called an “upsell,” and it’s the best way to double your beat sales.

For example: Let’s say you have a new beat that you have coming out and you would like to add an upsell after someone purchases the beat.

Maybe you could promote a music promotion service or the exclusive rights to the instrumentals they just purchased.

There are endless ways to upsell to a client.

Many producers are not creating upsells because they don’t have the information and the tools needed to create one.

This is a simple strategy that you can add to your music production business that will have you selling more beats without changing anything.

You can keep using Myflashstore or Soundgine as the main payment processor, and then you can create a sales funnel with the upsells separately, using Paypal.

Here’s how to sell beats with Paypal

The first thing we will do is create a sales page that will be promoting one of our latest beat packs.

Below is an image of the page we will use.

how to sell beats with Paypal

As you can see, we switched our Myflashstore player with a regular Soundcloud player and added a Paypal button below the player.

We created this simple page using WordPress in conjunction with optimize press.

Once a visitor lands on the page we created with optimize press and clicks on the buy now button, he or she will be redirected to Paypal for payment.

Once the payment is complete, Paypal has an option that you can use that will redirect the client back to your website.

paypal2

This is where you’re going to create a confirmation/thank you page, which we will use to promote one of our other products.

Remember, the client just finished purchasing a beat from you and chances are they still have their credit card beside them.

It’s our duty as a business to take advantage of these opportunities and hit them up with an offer they can’t refuse.

Below is an image of the thank you page we’re using as our upsell.

selling beats with Paypal

It reads: “Wait! Would you like to promote your music to over 200,000 fans?

Get 30 days of promotion to over 200,000 fans for only $30.”

As I said earlier, you can use any type of service or beats as an upsell.

The goal here is to give the client more products related to what they just bought. Either they take the new offer or just say no.

What do you have to lose? Nothing.

Using the upsell formula with Paypal is a great way to get more sales.

Every solid business uses upsells to sell more products.

Have you ever been to godaddy.com to buy hosting or any other products they offer?

They have like 10 different products related to what you’re buying as an upsell and most of the products they recommend are actually worthless.

They do a really good job at convincing people that those products will help them out.

After I started implementing these types of sales funnels for my music production business, I started to double my profits.

Beats 124

I made it a habit to use Paypal twice a month to sell beats on my own, without using Myflashstore, Soundgine, or any other third party tool.

Those tools are great and don’t stop using them, but make sure you create your own Paypal upsell funnels and test them out.

Creating them takes a little work, but if you’re a serious music producer who’s willing to take the necessary steps to build a profitable beat selling business online, then this will be a piece a cake for you.

I see it every day — most beatmakers want to sell more beats but are not willing to put in the work it takes to succeed.

They are using the same old strategies that simply just don’t work any more.

Selling beats with upsells using Paypal on your own is simple and will always work.

Don’t let third party tools control your whole business.

Yeah, it’s great that they can take care of all the payment processing for you, but create other ways to be more in control of your product.

So if anything ever happens to these third party websites, you always have something ready to fall back on.

How To Sell Beats On Facebook

Today I want to talk about Facebook ads and how to sell beats on facebook utilizing one of the best paid traffic sources online today.

Facebook is a powerful website to market your beat selling website on. For one, it’s still the cheapest paid traffic source online today compared to Google Adwords, buying ad space on websites to solo ads.

But many producers are getting it wrong.

I see it every single day when I log into Facebook.

Most music producers are looking to sell beats through Facebook and that’s a huge mistake.

Facebook is a social media website, people go on Facebook to socialize, people don’t go on Facebook to buy a product.

Yea u might get lucky one day and hit a home run on Facebook, sell a beat on Facebook, but chances are your conversion rate will decrease over time.

I’ve heard it many times. Facebook doesn’t work. I tried it out, but didn’t sell any beats, then they go on looking for the next hit and run strategy.

That’s why most producers fail, they’re still looking for the magic beat-selling formula and don’t stick to the script.

The strategy we always recommend when doing Facebook ads is give away something for free.

Grab the email, build the relationship and then do the selling.

It’s simple as 1, 2, 3 and it works.

Why do you think so many marketers scream “the money is in the list” because it’s true.

The problem with us producers is we want the sales now without building the foundation of the business and email will be the foundation of the music production business like it or not.

I generate 30 to 40 leads per day with Facebook on a 20 buck per day budget.

I run a Facebook ad for 10 days. I keep it simple. I do this every month and it grows my business on autopilot.

Click the image to enlarge

beat selling on facebook

There’s so many targeting options that you can use on Facebook that you can’t really find nowhere else.

You got custom audiences where you can add a code to your website and target your website visitors which will decrease your ad spent.

You have lookalike audiences, you can even target your email list with a Facebook ad.

But like I said earlier many producers are not doing this.

I’m just here to show you want working for me. I don’t want to run your business, but if I can help you in anyway get your focus on what you need to do to grow your business. I will do it.

I was the same way when I started my beat selling business. I never wanted to grow my email list and it was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made online that cost’s me thousands of dollars.

Doing Facebook ads, the right way is the key to the growth of your business.

If you master Facebook ads, you don’t have to worry about traffic anymore.

All you have to do is set your budget create converting ads and leave them running while you’re making more music.

Facebook Retargeting

Retargeting is the cream of the crop on Facebook.

Let’s say we created an ad that is giving away a free instrumental. Facebook gives us the option to add a tracking code on that signup page.

What this code will do is create a custom audience for you of people who already visited your website.

What makes this so powerful is that you can create another ad that targets that audience that Facebook helped build for you.

You can promote your beats directly to this audience and will have a better chance of converting them into sales or leads.

Remember, they’ve been to your website and they already know it’s legit.

selling beats with facebook

Selling beats directly on Facebook is a gamble that most producers can’t afford.

Use Facebook to build the foundation, then it’s your job to communicate with the subscriber.

That’s how you can use the Facebook ads platform to start the conversation.

Another important thing you should do when using Facebook’s ads to promote your music production business is test the ads with different images, different headlines and different opt-in pages.

You want to see which ad performs best and Facebook makes it real simple to find out which ad is your top performance ad.

Those additional ads that are not performing you can pause those ads with a click of a button.

If you’re going to do Facebook paid advertising you can’t go in blindfolded or you will lose some serious cash.

You will have to learn how to sell beats on Facebook mastering their advertising platform.

I’ve received tons of emails from producers who quit doing Facebook after one ad and that’s because they didn’t let the ad run.

Here’s a quick tip for those who hate to wait for results.

On the first day or two of running a Facebook ad, you are going to see your cost way up and that’s natural, so don’t be alarmed.

facebook sell beats

If you don’t see the cost go down after 3 to 4 days, then you pause that ad.

Just don’t be so quick to pull the trigger and pause it after 1 day because the Facebook algorithm takes some time searching for the right audience for you.

You can build your entire beats-selling business with just Facebook ads, the days of posting on your fan page and getting free traffic to your website are almost done with.

Facebook has forced us advertisers to pay to reach our own audience who’ve we spent money building.

Basically, you have to pay to play and I don’t blame them. They’re running a business just like us.

You can build a business with just Facebook, but we recommend using other forms of traffic.  Facebook can change and shut everything down and your traffic will be gone forever.

So use other platforms like Twitter, YouTube, solo ads and media buying.

I started using Twitter a year and a half ago and I managed to build a fan base to over 200,000 targeted followers using this simple Twitter beat selling strategy.

Twitter is my number 1 social media website that sends referral traffic to my beats, my opt-in pages, my sales pages, and the best part about its free traffic.

I love me some twitter and I always recommend it to producers coming up.

Keep growing it.

Most music producers are looking for sales today, but building a successful beat selling business online is a marathon. Learning how to sell beats on facebook is a step in the right direction

Where Can I Sell My Beats Online?

Where Can I Sell My Beats Online?

I’ve been asked this question a lot lately by online music producers who are just starting out and who are very confused about what websites they need to focus on in order to get more beat sales.

I’ve noticed that most producers have accounts on every social media website possible.

They’re on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Linkedin, Vine, Pinterest, and many others.

Believe me I created accounts on those websites too when I first started my beat selling website but the truth is..

I was wasting most of my hours trying to be on social media all day instead of working on the money generating activities that would grow my business.

My daily business activities started to go downhill.

I wasn’t creating beats like I wanted to. I was too busy trying to be on every social media channel promoting my beats.

And that’s not a bad thing, we want to promote and sell our beats but there’s better ways to do so.

Here's what you'll learn..

• Why you should stay away from Email and Facebook between 8:00am and 1:00pm

• What social media websites I use to sell my beats

• What other ways besides social media you can sell beats.

• Why it’s important to stick with a plan, then rinse and repeat

Stay Away From Your Email and Your Facebook Account

This is the first thing you should do if you want to be more productive daily in terms of running a successful beat selling business.

Selling beats online takes work and if you’re checking your email every five minutes or checking what people are posting on Facebook, then you will waste time and money.

sell my beats fast

I know we have a tendency to check our email looking for that next paypal statement, believe me I did it too.

I created my own little plan that kept me off Facebook and Email for most of the day.

I promised myself that I would not open an email or log in to Facebook between the hours of 8:00 am to 1:00pm.

What this did was double my production and get me focused on what I had to do daily to grow my business, which was make beats, create new products, create new autoresponder emails with aweber, etc.

To promote my beats on Facebook I used a free tool that sent out my daily Facebook post automatically.

Not only am I off Facebook but I’m still promoting my music production business. It’s a win-win.

Selling My Beats with Social Media

For my beat selling business, I like to focus on a small number of social media websites to promote my beats and products on.

I recommend choosing two or three platforms and sticking with those.

The reason I don’t have accounts everywhere is that I don’t have the time of day to manage every account, so why waste the time trying when I can be doing more important things?

The two social media website I focus on are Twitter and Facebook (Facebook ads)

Let’s first talk about my favorite: Twitter.

Twitter is the #1 way I generate free traffic to my beat selling website.

Look at the stats we generated: 1.55 million impressions and 12,000 profile views on twitter in the last 28 days and for free. No advertising cost!

how to sell my beats with twitter

In addition, we add 20 to 30 new leads per day and all we do is use this strategy.

The key to selling beats on twitter is reaching out to music artists.

You could have 200,000 targeted followers in twitter but if you don’t engage with them, you will not sell any beats.

If you would like to learn more on how to grow your fanbase on twitter, click here.

My second favorite website to market my beats on and grow my email list is through Facebook and its Facebook ads platform.

Creating high converting Facebook ads can be very beneficial for your business in terms of generating highly targeted leads at very low cost.

The one thing I recommend when using the Facebook ads platform to sell your beats on is to learn how the system works before you invest.

You can lose your budget real fast if you’re creating ads without receiving the proper training.

Other ways to sell beats besides social media.

One of the best ways to get music artists listening to your beats fast is purchasing solo ads. Solo ads is one of the quickest ways to get targeted music artists to your website in hours.

What are solo ads?

Solo ads are a quick and easy way to generate traffic to your beat selling website at a low price.

The idea is to search online and find other trustworthy music producers who own a huge email list full of music artist and pay them to send your message to their subscribers.

You can actually build a huge email list quickly using this strategy.

I’ve tried plenty of solo ads, both good and bad.

Just make sure you research the website you’re purchasing solo ads on. Sign up to their email list first to make sure it’s a real service.

Selling Beats With Media Buys

sell my beats with media buys

Another way to send traffic to your beats is purchasing banner ad space on other peoples’ websites.

This is one of my favorite ways to promote my beats online. You must know your demographics first before you get into media buying.

Buying ad space online takes money, testing, and more testing.

Once you find the perfect ad that’s converting into sales, you can scale up and create a money making, beat selling machine.

Finding websites who are offering media buying opportunities is really simple, just go on Google and search for websites related to your niche where music artist hang out.

Most websites have advertise with us links in the footer section.

If you don’t find that link just contact them about a banner ad placement and cost.

Rinse and Repeat

Rinsing and repeating daily actions is the most important thing you will do to grow your music production company.

Get into the habit of creating a bucket list of things you have to get done in the first 4 to 5 hours of your day.

Make sure you focus on the money generating activities in the morning whether is creating a new beat, creating a blog post, creating a new product or creating an email blast that will go out daily to your subscribers.

These are money making tasks.

What this will do is create a rollover effect for your business’s future growth.

If you’re not willing to put in the work, then selling beats online is not for you. Stop looking for that “Secret Sauce” to sell beats online.

The secret sauce is you and the work ethic you put into your business.

Rinse and repeat.

Stop checking your email every five minutes, stop checking your Facebook news feed, and just get to work. Let’s go!

15 Tools I Use To Sell Beats

Selling beats online consistently can be a huge task for most online music producers.

It’s not easy to get music artists flooding your website when you’re first starting out.

Actually, it can be a pain in the ass driving traffic to your beat selling website.

But… There are some great tools that can to help you get more traffic.

And, for those who don’t have a beat selling website yet, there are also tools that can help you create one fast.

Today, I will be revealing the top 15 tools that I use to consistently sell beats online every single month.

These are the tools I use to build and run my beat selling business, from my email management service provider, beat players, blog post tools, and website creation tools to social media traffic generating tools.

All the tools needed to blow up this year :)

Tools to Create Your Own Beat Selling Website

WordPress – If you own a website, then you must have heard of WordPress. WordPress is the best website builder online today and the best part about it is that it’s FREE. We use WordPress in conjunction with optimize press to build beat selling websites in minutes – and you can too!

Bluehost – If you’re going to create a beat selling website, you will need a hosting service for that website. Bluehost is a cheap, affordable hosting company that will fit your needs. In addition, the WordPress site builder is already inside the bluehost panel.

Optimize press – This is my favorite tool for creating quick websites, opt in pages, membership sites, sales pages, and more. Use this plugin along with WordPress and it will make it really simple to create sales pages for your beats in a hurry without paying thousands to a website designer.

Sell beats with optimize press

Myflashstore – This is the best service for uploading and selling your beats on autopilot. They do all the transactions for you and have added tons of new features that are really great. All you have to do is upload your beats and copy the html code of the beat player to your website and you’re ready to sell beats.

Tools to Sell Beats With Email

Aweber – By far the most important tool that I use to promote my beats, product, and services is Aweber. This should be the first step you take for your business if you want to sell beats online at a consistent rate. Start building that email list from day 1 and use a service like Aweber to manage your list of email subscribers.

Content Upgrade Pro: Are you using your blog to sell beats? If so, this WordPress plugin is a must have to add new music artists to your email list using pop up/opt in forms throughout your blog post. This is like a mini version of leadpages but without the high cost of the $37 per month fee. Try it out; it’s well worth the small investment.

Tools for Testing and Tracking

Google Analytics – Get a deep insight into your website visitors using google analytics. You can – and should – find out where your traffic is coming from, what pages they are clicking on, and how long they are staying on your website. You can also set up website conversions with google analytics.

Adtrackz Gold – Adtrackz is one of my favorite tools for tracking my conversions for my beat pack products, music promotion services, drum kits, etc.

If you’re doing paid advertising using Facebook, banner ads, solo ads, or google adwords you will have to track all that traffic to see which one is bringing the most sales and subscribers. It also provides additional data that is hard to track using google analytics.

Accurank Tracker – My favorite tool for tracking all my keywords that I’m trying to rank for on google. This tool will help you take a look at what keywords you need to work on to get to that elusive first page on the google charts.

Social Media Tools I Use to Sell More Beats

Bufferapp – Do you spend most of your day on social media trying to sell your beats? I don’t and it’s because I use this app to send my tweets, Facebook updates, Google plus, and LinkedIn posts on autopilot.

Pre-schedule all your updates for a week. It only takes a couple minutes a day and, believe me, you won’t have to worry about spending most of your time on social media.

Manageflitter – This is my new bread and butter way to manage all my twitter accounts. We have over 200,000 followers on twitter and are still growing every day.

If you’re not on twitter trying to sell beats, you are missing out on one of the best traffic generating sources for a beat selling business. Manageflitter makes it simple to follow and unfollow targeted twitter users manually.

Tweet Attacks Pro – TAP does the same thing that Manage flitter does, but does it on autopilot. If you don’t have the time to follow and unfollow users every day, then tweet attacks pro is the software that will help you grow your fan base on Twitter without lifting a finger. Just create your settings and let the software do the job for you.

See: Double Your Twitter Traffic In 20 Minutes

Click to Tweet – If you’re creating great content on your blog, having click to tweet boxes throughout the articles is a great way to get the visitors to retweet specific quotes from your article.

Post Planner – Want to promote your beats everywhere on Facebook? Then post planner is the tool to get the job done for you. Schedule posts for your pages and groups. It’s like having a Facebook marketing team behind your music production business.

Tube Assist – This is the tool I use to rank all my YouTube videos. Tube Assist will help you get more views and subscribers on YouTube. Those inside traffic for beats already know how I use this tool on a daily basis to generate tons of traffic to my beat selling website.

There are a lot more tools that I use to sell beats online. These are just the top 15 that I use every single day for my business.

If you’re still afraid of investing in your business, how do you think you will succeed? These tools and services will make your life as a music production business owner easier and were made to help you succeed.

If you would like to add any other tools you use to the list, please add them to the comment section below. Thanks

5 Reasons You’re Not Selling Beats Online

Not selling beats online? Here’s why…

Did you know that 98% of music producers fail online within the first year of launching a beats store?

Do you want to be part of that 2% who succeed? I certainly hope so.

Selling beats online is actually simple to do if you stay focused on the core principles of your business and don’t make the same mistakes as the 98% who are failing today.

Here are the 5 mistakes online music producers make when trying to sell beats online:

1. Information overload.

Information overload is one of the main reasons music producers are not selling beats. If you’re spending half of your day surfing the net looking for the magic formula to generating a full time income online then STOP!

sell beats today

You will not find the proper information for free.

The problem with free information is that there’s too much of it and it’s not structured for what you need to do step by step to create a business that will grow for years.

2. Not building an email list

If you’re not building an email list then I advise you to go and start building your list right now.

Not building a list was one of the mistakes that I made when I was starting out online with my beat selling website.

I lost thousands of potential customers due to not growing my list.

The great thing about having an email list full of music artists is that these people can be fans and/or customers forever if you provide great value to them.

For example: let’s say I have a list of 3000 music artists who I’m providing great value to and who are opening every email I send.

All I have to do every time I upload a beat to my website or anytime I have a discount sale on beats is create a broadcast message that will go out to all my subscribers with a touch of a button using this service.

aweber

This strategy will put my product (beats) in front of the people who I have built relationships with and know me already and will convert into sales quicker than someone who has just found my website online.

Nobody can take your email list away from you. That’s a business model you control compared to counting on Google, Facebook, Twitter, and/or any other traffic generating websites online.

All those websites mentioned can change tomorrow and wipe out your beat selling business in a hurry.

So we recommend using those sites to build your email list first then send direct traffic to your beat selling website through email.

3. Scared to spend money on advertisements

If you want to sell beats online, you have to invest in your business point blank!

If you’re not ready to shell out some dough to help your music production business growing with advertisements, then selling beats is not for you.

There’s plenty of ad platforms online today that you can use to start driving music artists to your beats right away. You have Google adwords, media buying (banner ads), solo ads, Twitter ads, and my favorite right now: Facebook ads.

I’ve created a lead generating machine with one of my latest Facebook ads that generated 632 new subscribers to my email list within 2 weeks time.

Want to learn how I generated 600 new music artist to my email list?

Enter email to get access

privacy We value your privacy and would never spam you

The one thing I tell all my students is… before you get into paid advertising you have to learn what paid advertising is and how you can convert your traffic into sales.

Don’t go to Facebook after you read this article and create an ad without knowing anything about the Facebook ads system or any other ad platforms for that matter.

If you would like a step by step system on what you need to do to create great looking and converting ads, click here.

Paid traffic is a great way to get music artists knocking at your beat selling website’s door in no time. Once you covert those visitors into sales, you can scale up your budget and have your music production business grow on auto pilot.

4. Beats are not up to par

The beats are the most important factor in selling beats online.

You can drive thousands of music artists to your website every day, but if your beats are not of high quality you will not sell anything.

Make sure you work on your craft every day to put out top quality instrumentals. Invest in more sounds, learn how to mix and master, work on song structure, etc.

Once you have about 35 to 50 beats ready to go you can easily start to automate your business by uploading 35+ beats to your website using this beat player and with the other 15 beats you can create messages that will go out automatically to your new subscribers on a weekly basis using Aweber.

This is a very powerful way of automating your entire music production business.

5. You want to do everything yourself

Having a mentor is a huge part of the success of your business.

Not only will you skip the trial and error that many of the producers who want to do everything themselves go through.

You will have a straight step by step path from people who have been through the hardships and headaches that go with building a profitable beat selling website online.

Believe me, it took me over 1 year to find consistent beat sales for my business and that was because I wanted to do everything myself.

I wanted to do the beats, I wanted to create the website, I wanted to do all the marketing, and soon I realized it was too much for me.

That’s when I slowed down and found a mentor that would teach me the ropes on what I needed to focus on instead of trying every single thing that I read about online.

I was on the road to being part of that 98% failure rate of online music producers but I decided that I needed help and I wasn’t afraid to pay for it either.

I went all in and took action on every little step that was taught to me and created a profit generating online music production business in only four hours a day.

You can do the same for your business. It just takes a little help from others and your determination to learn and follow the steps that you have been taught.

So, those were the 5 mistakes online music producers make when trying to sell beats online.

Do you know of more mistakes that music producers make?
